A year in the life 2016 #166: boys and the barber

image

Here are the boys all waiting for long overdue haircuts. They might have been at various stages of the cold I had, but hair cuts don’t take much effort as I had proven earlier in the week.

Took the boys to scrim. Still felt like death and Zac was too sick to come, but we made it there.

A year in the life 2016 #164: new hair

image

Horrible cold, but I managed to drag myself out of bed for the hairdresser. To good result!

A year in the life 2016 #163: all the children

image

It was a pupil-free day for a lot of schools including the boys and their cousins. So everyone was at our house for the morning. Fortunately it was beautiful weather.

image

Jude, Zachary, Emilie, Scarlett and I went to the park while Sebastian stayed at home with his new ice cream machine and made delicious raspberry sorbet. A good morning.

A year in the life 2016 #162: finals day!

image

Finals today for The Great Southern Slam. We saw Light City Derby win their loser semi final to bring the weekend to a 3 out of 4 wins. We also got to watch VRDL completely dominate the Sydney Assassins. But best of all we got to hang out with our lovely VDL gang and cheer and dance and have super fun. Derby is the only sport where half time turns into a dance party, right?

A year in the life 2016 #161: belated birthday celebrations

image

Sebastian got especially spoiled by his godmother-equivalent for his belated birthday.

There was a giant present.

image

…an ice cream maker which Sebastian has been coveting.

Then of course cake.

image

But I still think the highlight for him was geting to hang out with Natasha.

A year in the life 2016 #160: a day at The Great Southern Slam

image

There we were with three Leagues to support – LCD, VDL and CRDL. So that meant a lot games and a lot of cheering.

It was great to see how enthusiastic the LCD guys were in supporting the women’s team – a whole cheer squad in fact!

image

And it was even better to watch the Sabres win their first two games at TGSS. They were so happy!

image

It was a little weird watching the DHRs and being nowhere near the bench, but it was great to cheer for them as well.

image

They won one game and lost one – as expected and not a bad record for the first time in Division One.

image

We also got to see and cheer for CRDL as they one their first pool match. So a pretty successful day all round!

image

Especially successful for Zac who got an exciting new pair of skates!

A year in the life 2016 #159: another cute pub

image

Adelaide really is the city of pubs. It is hard to walk more than 200m in the city mile without bumping into another one. An increasing number of them have been converted from “Digger” pubs as we used to call them (occupied by old blokes) to funky and interesting places.

Was having lunch with my friend Karen and tried out a new one today –  the Benjamin on Franklin. Very cute. I particularly liked the ceiling decoration made of old crystalware.

A year in the life 2016 #158: two leagues and a birthday

image

For training tonight I went full DHR in order to honour, in advance, the team playing on the weekend at The Great Southern Slam.

image

It was the fifth birthday for Light City Derby that night so after training there was cake to celebrate!

Great to be able to celebrate and feel part of two excellent leagues.

A year in the life 2016 #157: training

image

It has been lots of fun training regularly again. Nice to not be constantly travelling for work and instead being able to make it to training on a regular and predictable basis!
