Training again. Definitely happy to be back on skates, even if it is stupidly hot.

But the lipstick stayed in place.

A year in the life 2016 #52: riding

image

I have started riding again in the mornings on the days I don’t go to the gym. With parklands all around and bike lanes through the city there are lots of choices of where to ride. I discovered the bike paths through the cemetery this morning. A rather fascinating  location for a ride.

A year in the life 2016 #51: TV watching

We don’t watch a lot of TV, but the boys have developed a bit of a My Kitchen Rules obsession. I guess it is the cooking.

A year in the life 2016 #50: afternoon teal

image

My best friend Natasha is a big supporter of ovarian cancer awareness and research and hosted an afternoon tea to raise both money and awareness.  Champagne and cupcakes for all!

PS the biggest problem with ovarian cancer is that it is usually detected too late, so be aware of the symptoms and get yourself checked out if in doubt.

A year in the life 2016 #49: 6 Degrees of Ned Kelly

image

On Saturday night we took Jude and Zac (Seb was off babysitting) to see their first Fringe show – 6 Degrees of Ned Kelly. I really enjoyed it; it was a really interesting and entertaining exploration of the Australian relationship to myth, legend and history particularly in the form of Ned Kelly. So right up my alley. The boys enjoyed it too.

Dancers! Lights! Music! The Fringe Parade

We arrived at the Parade site as the sun was starting to set, and were entertained by pre parade entertainment.

The Parade began with the Kaurna people.

2016-02-13 20.38.01And the Mr Julian Clary.

He was just the beginning of the lights and spectacularity which followed. It was a terrific start to the Fringe!

A year in the life 2016 #48: Friday night adventures

Kangaroo Island gin in the Botanic Gardens. Delicious in a gorgeous setting.

Learning the history of gin and tonic was a bonus.

But the gin was the star.

A stop for a drink at the Ebeneezer Place night markets.

A lovely finish to the night discovering a hidden wonder – Thrift Shop, a little cocktail bar tucked away off Waymouth Street. Serving only Australian spirits, there were some delicious cocktails on offer.
