A year in the life 2016 #226: play dough, ducks and burgers

Two days in Sydney, well North Ryde, for a course on Wicked Problems. I had hoped for an in-depth look at complex public policy problems and the approaches that have been used to try and address them. It….wasn’t that. Instead we had play dough.

I got really good at making play dough roses.

At least the campus at Macquarie is beautiful (and lots of Pokestops).

There were also ducks – and Slowpokes.

Being the excellent EA that he is, work James had located me a nearby gym and organised a guest pass, so I got to gym and then treat myself with a hamburger afterwards. So all was not lost.

Look, I don’t mind doing a course about using creativity to solve complex problems (though the mind boggled at what some people thought were actually complex), but it really wasn’t I had been expecting. Or hoping for, to be honest.

A year in the life 2016 #92: junior zebra

SeaBash is enjoying the chance to regularly ref at Light City Derby scrim. He isn’t doing a bad job of it either and it is a good chance both to be on skates and learn more.

A year in the life 2016 #91: never too old for grandmother cuddles

Jackie came over to visit for the weekend and we all went to watch Sebastian play cricket. Zac is certainly still happy to have some Ga cuddles.

A year in the life 2016 #81: men in red shirts

One of the advantages of being in Adelaide is that grandparents and grandchildren get to spend more regular time together. Today Nana and Poppa came over for afternoon tea. Dad just happened to be wearing a top which matched the boys’ school uniform.

A year in the life 2016 #69: a normal day

I didn’t take a photo today. It was a pretty normal day – work, taking boys to derby training, a glass of wine and some TV. Sometimes I do forget to photo.

A year in the life 2016 #68: brother vs brother

There was a lot of brother v brother jamming action at scrim tonight. They both played really well. Then they got named in their home teams – different ones, so more brother v brother action to come.

A year in the life 2016 #67: meetings

Another day, another meeting. My main thought today was – another week and a bit and I am on leave.
