A year in the life 2016 #233b: the joy of hotel pools

I love a good hotel pool. So often they are empty, especially in hotels dominated by business travellers. Work travel can be busy and demanding, as your attention gets pulled between what you are doing where you are and what is happening back in the office and a swim is a chance to momentarily forget all that, to relax, to exercise, to be in the moment.

And then you get out, get changed, and get on with it.

A year in the life 2016 #233: another day, another Minister

This is my face when I am in a taxi early in the morning after catching a 6.05 am flight which then sat on the run way for 20 minutes when I am on a tight schedule to meet Minister Birmingham in Hobart at 8.15am.

Anyway, got there in time and it was lovely to have a brief chance to catch up with the Minister and his chief of staff who I hadn’t seen in ages.  And then the Minister did his thing.

A year in the life 2016 #232: here, there and everywhere

A busy day, starting with a flight to Sydney to meet with some visitors from Korea.

It was then off to Melbourne to meet the Minister and attend the National Skills Week launch.

I got to see the Minister learn to make sugar sculpture.

As well as make the speech we had drafted.

I also got to catch up with some of our lovely Apprenticeship Ambassadors before heading back to the airport to stay at the Parkroyal there to make it slightly easier to catch my 6.05am flight.

A year in the life 2016 #231: return to old favourites

We headed out to dinner with Paul, Chun-Ling and Richard to celebrate Richard’s new job and to have a chance to catch up. Nothing like Elk & Pea followed by Frugii to make one feel at home in Canberra again.

A year in the life 2016 #230: something random

This seems to be the best I could manage photo-wise today. Working from home with a sick Zachary for part of the day. My laptop and I go everywhere together.

A year in the life 2016 #229: best lunch of the year

As usual, there was a lot of lovely wine and excellent company. We were a bit disappointed with the food that didn’t make it up to the standard of previous years at the Boat House. But we didn’t let that stop us having a good time – and inevitably buying more wine than we should!

A year in the life 2016 #228: derby training

The boys are back in the swing of CRDL Juniors training. I am finding the time is perfect for doing shoping related chores at Woden. Win win.
