A year in the life 2016 #320: skater boys

CRDL Juniors got to skate tonight before the CRDL grand final. All the boys did really well and had fun. Nothing like a chance to perform before a bit of a crowd.

A year in the life 2016 #286: Prime Sinisters!

Tonight was a super exciting night because the Prime Sinisters – the CRDL junior team – final got to play as a team for the first  time. I was privileged to get to line up manage for them.

They are a terrific bunch of kids – so positive and supportive of each other and their opposition, respectful of what everyone can contribute , but still competitive and determined to win.

And win they did – beating the Blue Mountains and playing some terrific derby in the process. It was great to see them shine – and have a lot of fun!

A year in the life 2016 #68: brother vs brother

There was a lot of brother v brother jamming action at scrim tonight. They both played really well. Then they got named in their home teams – different ones, so more brother v brother action to come.

A year in the life 2016 #54: junior scrim and work

Took Sebastian to his first junior scrim with Lil Adelaide Rollers. After a busy day of work I was back to my old habit of catching up with work while watching small people skate.

A day in the life 2016 #31: derby training

First day of training for the boys with the Lil Adelaide Rollers – they had a great time, especially Zac who hasn’t been able to do derby training for six months or so.

A year in the life 2016 #17: skating

One of the things that the boys have been looking forward to the most about living in Adelaide has been getting to train with the Lil Adelaide Rollers who are the best junior roller derby team in the country. Today they had a welcome back skate and we all went along angld got our skates on – and collected all the forms for membership. Twice a week training and once a week scrim – the boys are super excited. Of course, a 35 degree + day might not have been an ideal time to put the skates on, but a bit of sweat never hurt anyone…
