A year in the life 2016 #189: last night in Adelaide

James and my last night living in Adelaide. Monday had been spent packing and then Tuesday we turned our Adelaide home over to the cleaners.

Mum and Dad arrived home Monday afternoon so tonight was a chance to go out, eat some fabulous food at the Oriental House and say goodbye.

We also took the chance to teach Scarlett and Emilie more about Pokémon Go. Here is Emilie looking sad because there were no more Pokémon to be found.

A year in the life 2016 #187: final family dinner

Our last Sunday night dinner while living in Adelaide. As Mum and Dad (and Sam) were still overseas, dinner was at Lucy and Rowan’s. They found a bottle of Black Shiraz to crack open to celebrate or commiserate, depending on how you wanted to see it.

Lovely food, doing the quiz, having some laughs – the Sunday night usual.

And then the boys had to say goodbye.

A year in the life 2016 #186 (b): last big night out in Adelaide

The boys were flying home to Canberra for a few days in Merimbula on Monday and so this was our last chance for a big night out in Adelaide together.

We started with cocktails or mocktails at Thrift Shop. Yum.

We then had an absolutely fabulous dinner at the Mexican Society of Chinatown. Completely delicious.

And to end the evening, icecreams from 42 Flavours.

A wonderful night together.

A year in the life 2016 #185: thanks Gisselle!

Most of my PT sessions at the gym were with Gisselle. She made me work hard but was super lovely and supportive (everyone at my gym Xpress Personal Training was fabulous) and I am definitely going to miss her sessions.

A year in the life 2016 #184: music night!

It was the end of term music night at Sturt St Community School and both Jude and Zachary were on the program.

They both performed solos.

Jude sang in the choir.

And they played together in a string ensemble. This was particularly fun – even with only a couple of practices, the ensemble managed a great performance of three fun pieces. Jude and Zac were the only non-violins, so integral.

It was also Jude’s last time to hang out with his Adelaide bestie Imogen as she was off overseas the next day. Fond farewells were said, but we are sure to see Imogen again.

A year in the life 2016 #182: rain life

It has rained pretty more than I ever would have imagined it raining in Adelaide this winter. I generally didn’t let it stop me walking to the gym – with appropriate protection of course.

A year in the life 2016 #181: last hockey game

It will probably be a while be a while before the boys all play on the same hockey team again. Here they are with the Adelaide Hockey Club team after their last game in Adelaide (which they won).

A year in the life 2016 #179: Citizen

Probably our most visited restaurant for our time in Adelaide was the CitiZen – an old family favourite (for years and years) and just down the road from where we have been living. We decided another visit was in order and were not disappointed.

A year in the life 2016 #176 (part b): urban sunset

Sometimes I walk back down the street from the IGA and get to marvel at the beauty of the sunset. Those are moments of joy.

A year in the life 2016 #177: purple potatoes

One of the great joys of having the Central Markets so close is the ability to find and try new things. These entertaining looking potatoes were purple when peeled – and stayed that way when cooked. Roasted creaminess.
