A year in the life…day 301: re-elected

Unsurprisingly, there was a fair bit of distraction today. I don’t think I ever really believed Obama wouldn’t win, but that didn’t mean I wasn’t obsessively checking Twitter and refreshing the computer. But it was over reasonably quickly, so hooray. I am a bit of an Obama sceptic, but he was way better than the other choices. And the best parts of the day weren’t his election – they were seeing marriage equality upheld in four states, the most (openly) misogynist of the Republicans voted out, awesome women being elected everywhere including the two Tammys – the first openly lesbian women elected and the first women who had been injured in combat. And there were other similar victories. It made me optimistic that maybe the tide is turning against misogyny, that perhaps we can hope that the world has sense.
